Why do we need to conduct mold flow analysis?
Mold Flow Analysis is a computer-aided engineering (CAE) technology based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and the principles of plastic molding. Its core lies in using software to simulate the entire process of plastic flow, pressure holding, cooling, and warpage in the mold, predicting potential molding defects (such as short shot, sink mark, and warpage) in advance. This enables the optimization of mold design, process parameters, and material selection, ultimately achieving cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and quality enhancement.
The core purpose of conducting Mold Flow Analysis is to solve three key issues in plastic molding, making production more hassle-free:
1. Avoid problems in advance: Simulate potential defects (such as short shots and warpage) before mold opening, eliminating the need for rework after test molding.
2. Save money and time: Reduce the number of test moldings (from 3-5 times to 1-2 times) to cut test molding costs, shorten the development cycle, and get products to market faster.
3. Optimize solutions: Help finalize mold design, production parameters, and materials, minimizing defective products during mass production and improving efficiency.
What Types of Steel Are Mainly Used for Automotive Part Molds?
